Principle Characters
No Crying He Makes
Pippa Bond (Jane Horrocks) - a young mother - is horrified to discover that her baby girl has been snatched and inexplicably replaced with a baby boy. Suspicion falls upon Pippa’s childless sister, Susan Raines (Alison Rose) and Katherine Freeman (Barbara Marten), a mother who recently suffered depression following the birth of an unwanted son.
Tony Jasper (Clive Wood) - a well-known local thief - is suspected of being behind a spate of burglaries in the Kingsmarkham area. Jasper is married to the long-suffering Leila (Christine Kavanagh). Leila spends her days caring for their baby son and then works nights in a local nightclub while Jasper claims to be at home playing cards with his friends.
